"I do not know if this is or is not a violation of my “free will,” but that is not a great problem for me since I have never been convinced that the notion of free will does any useful work. I know it certainly does no useful work for helping me understand my life. Anything I may be that is any good I have never chosen, but rather has been forced on me.
